Life Together

Room for the Spirit - Tim McConnell

Sep. 10

Tim Keller called the church an “organized organism.” You can overthink a church, overcook your strategy and methodology, over-organize to the point of choking the life out of the organism. But you can also under-organize leaving the organism lost and growing in every direction at once. We seek to have enough organization to make space for the growth and life of the church; to make room for the Spirit. Organization is good. Freeflowing movement and growth is good. In life together as a church we need both, so don’t discourage one another but encourage one another. Here are our outlines and forms, the trellis on which the plant can grow, the canvas on which the beautiful artwork can be created, the garden where fruit can be borne.
