Give Back the Blessing 2025

wefortify.houses.jpg

At First Pres, we are committed to blessing our city and world by focusing on a specific area of need each year. This year, God has made it clear that housing is a critical issue affecting both the citizens of Colorado Springs and Cairo. With rising costs and limited affordable options, many are struggling to find a safe and stable place to call home. We believe that by coming together, we can make a significant impact in addressing this need and showing Christ's love to those facing housing insecurity. Join us in making a difference as we work to support those in need in our community and beyond.

In Paul’s teaching about generosity in 2 Corinthians 9, he writes that giving and serving, “is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.” (2 Cor 9:12). We invite you to show your gratitude and Go Beyond Today, Go Beyond Yourself, and Go Beyond the Give.

We can make this difference together! Simply click on the give button below and select “Give Back the Blessing” as you make your gift. What is God calling you to give this year? Let’s fill some mouths and bellies! And let the love of Jesus be felt by those in need.

Opportunities to Go Beyond:

The high cost of living in Colorado Springs is contributing to high teacher turnover and recruitment challenges. Many new teachers in the district are forced to share housing with two or three roommates just to make ends meet.

First Pres is excited to partner with Harrison School District 2 and We Fortify to provide affordable housing for the city’s public educators. Located on the Mountain Vista Community School property, this innovative project will create a residential community for 40 teachers and school staff. Each resident will sign a one-year lease at just $825 per month, with the option to stay for up to three years.

Financial Goal: $100,000

GO Ministries @ Heliopolis Evangelical Church (HEC)

The mission arm of HEC serves four main areas of ministry that are reaching unengaged people groups and mobilizing church members. As Go Ministries embarks on church planting efforts in multiple areas of Cairo, they have encountered numerous families living in dire housing conditions: homes without windows, doors or roofs; little or no furniture or appliances; even homes without a toilet or proper plumbing.

Elder Emad Mohareb, who leads Go Ministries, shares, “a major component in reaching out to people for Christ is to practically present Christ’s love through different acts of mercy, often attending to emergency situations and providing relief.” Teams from HEC have been working to provide better living conditions for these families while also establishing centers of education in the neighborhoods. They have quickly seen how installing a toilet or fixing a roof is leading to better health, school attendance, and openness to the Gospel.

Financial Goal: $40,000 to help approximately 100 families
