The Lord's Prayer

The Lord's Prayer – Teach Us to Pray - Greg Hartnett

Jul. 10

Jesus’ disciples asked Him to teach them to pray. We want to know how to pray. Prayer is open communication with God. It is like crawling up onto the lap of a loving father. Sometimes we want prayer to work like a talisman or a secret incantation. Open Sesame. If we say the words right it will release the lock and the universe will shower blessings on us. God intends to shower blessings on us, but only as we are in relationship with Him as God. The Lord’s Prayer is often recited as more of an incantation than a prayer. Let’s make it live again. Let’s pray it alive again. Let’s not have our minds running other places while we regurgitate memorized phrases, but instead join in and pray the Lord’s Prayer. [In this series, we will teach the church to abandon the “Thy” and “Thine” in our use of the Lord’s Prayer and go with “You.” Our Father, Who is in heaven; Hallowed be Your name; Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen”]
