Redeemed
Redeemed From Slavery to Sin
- Matt Holtzman
Mar. 20
Sin is not just a word for a mistake you made. Sin is a power. It is a force and a presence. When we leave the dominion of God’s Kingdom and enter the dominion of the rebellion, we submit ourselves to the powers that oppose God. Sin grabs us and holds us, and we feel like slaves—because we are. Sin gains mastery over us. But Christ redeems us from the mastery of sin and sets us free. There is power in Christ to be freed from sin, but it comes on the other side of the baptism of the cross. You can, today, die to your old self and know new life in Jesus because Jesus died and rose again. When I try to free myself from sin’s chains, I only make it worse. I have to let Jesus break the chains and set me free. I have to be Redeemed.
