Birth to Pre K Introduction to Kids Ministries and Baptism Discussions At this age, we want to celebrate the blessing of a child entering the world and becoming part of the First Pres community. Additionally, if your family would like to baptize your child, we would love to discuss those options with you.
Kindergarten John 3:16 This verse outlines God’s big plan for our lives through His Son Jesus. We desire for kids to learn these foundational truths by memorizing this verse.
First Grade Communion Discussions While we understand that a child’s decision to take their first communion is a family one, we want to come alongside parents and help in any way we can. Our first graders learn the importance of the sacrament and the liturgy of worship so they are ready to take that first step with their parents.
Second Grade Bible Navigation and Receiving First Bibles As children begin to master reading skills, they also begin honing their Bible reading skills in second grade. They will learn tools for navigating the books of the Bible while also receiving their first Bibles.
Third Grade The Lord’s Prayer As kids begin their journey of studying Scripture, we hope their curiosity about God inspires them to have a relationship with Him. One of the best ways to talk to God is through prayer, which is why we memorize the Lord’s Prayer and learn to pray just as the Lord taught us.
Fourth Grade The Ten Commandments The Ten Commandments teach us how to love and obey God. As children at this age learn to apply their faith in real-life situations, the Ten Commandments are a helpful tool for understanding practical ways to love God and others.
Trailblazers The Apostles’ Creed Fifth & Sixth grade marks a wonderful transition season as children celebrate the end of their elementary years and prepare to enter middle school. Memorizing the Apostles’ Creed helps ground them in the core truths of the Christian faith as they move into this next stage.
