Lead Me Home

Un-Homed - Tim McConnell

Aug. 27

This is the story of every woman and man. The reason we talk about it as original sin is not so much that it is the first sin, but that it is the sin at the origin of our very being—and our very being as unsettled and roaming souls. We are now east of Eden, shut away from home, cut off from the tree of life. Now we are wanderers. We have home hunger because we have been “de-homed.” Exiled and separated from home and all that means. As Augustine said, now “our hearts are restless until they rest in You.” The un-homed soul searches hungrily for anything that will satisfy, even if just for a moment, the unmet longings within. Be careful. The threats and challenges of the un-homed soul are many.
